Best and worst wide receiver matchups for fantasy football Week 7

By utilizing our play-by-play data, we’re now able to identify where each wide receiver and cornerback lines up on each play. By tracking matchups between the two positions, including potential shadow situations, we can offer the best projections, rankings and fantasy advice each week this NFL season.

According to a source of ESPN’s Josina Anderson, the NFL’s investigation had enormous showings on inconsistencies at Elliott’s appeal.
Game Youth Jordan Richards Jersey
Jordan Howard racked up a ridiculous 36 carries for 167 yards against Baltimore in Week 6, adding one catch for 9 yards in the game. Howard is now fourth in the NFL with 118 carries and is averaging a solid, albeit unspectacular, 4.2 yards per carry. Howard has unsurprisingly been terrific after initial contact (2.14 average) but has done little as a receiver (11 receptions, 59 yards). Howard’s massive workload in a run-heavy offense keeps him in the back-end RB1 discussion, and he’s more of a solid RB1 option in non-PPR.

That’s an elite play by an allegedly elite quarterback.

Name me another quarterback in the NFL who can make that play happen? I’ll wait.

Late Thursday night, Elliott’s attorneys filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court of Eastern Texas to vacate whatever suspension results from the appeal process. The lawsuit’s main contention is that there was a league-orchestrated conspiracy . . . to hide critical information.

Authentic Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jersey The lawsuit hinges on testimony from Elliott’s appeal hearing that revealed the NFL director of investigations, Kia Roberts, concluded that the accuser was not credible in her allegations of abuse and recommended no suspension for Elliott. That was not was not included the league’s investigative report. Further, Roberts was barred by Lisa Friel, Special Counsel for Investigations for the NFL, from the meeting with Roger Goodell where they arrived at the decision to suspend Elliott.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell speaks Wednesday during a news conference following the NFL owners meeting.

NEW YORK — NFL owners ended two days of meetings here Wednesday without enacting a measure that would require players to stand for the national anthem before games.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and some of the owners reiterated after the meeting that the league believes its players should stand for the anthem. But the owners did not implement a rule change mandating that.

It was a plea to make America great again. It was a not-so-subtle reminder that no matter how rich, successful, talented or accomplished a black person in America may be …

We find ourselves in the midst of an unprecedented time of athlete activism as the Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport (TIDES) releases its 2017 NFL Racial and Gender Report Card. As I wrote in my ESPN column on the activism in the NFL and across the sports world, I found Sept. 24 to be the most important sports day since Muhammad Ali declared he would not fight in the Vietnam War.

Ryan Jensen Authentic Jersey The release of the NFL Report Card also comes shortly after the announcement that Colin Kaepernick had broken his silence and was taking legal action against what he claims is collusion among NFL owners to prevent him from getting another job in the league because of his activism. I agree with many others that there is no doubt that Kaepernick deserves to be playing.

Joe Girardi on future as Yankees manager: ‘Whatever their decision is, I’ll live with it’

De’Anthony Thomas Game Jersey Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he is prepared to face his employment fate following the end of the team’s season.

Girardi, whose four-year, $16 million contract is up at the end of the year, looked like a good bet to return until his decision-making was a main factor in his club’s blowing a five-run lead in Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the Cleveland Indians.

Girardi spoke to the team’s beat writers prior to the Yankees’ 1-0 win in Game 3.

These two deals were microcosms of what seems to always be the case of what we see around the deadline, which is that teams are just more aggressive when it comes to adding pitching. The question here when you look at what Martinez did for the Diamondbacks: Are we getting the trade deadline wrong?

Granted, what Martinez did was so off the charts, no team can reasonably expect his kind of impact from a deadline deal. Martinez hit 29 homers and posted a ridiculous 1.107 OPS in 62 games for the Diamondbacks, posting 2.6 WAR after the trade. Still, he had an OPS over 1.000 for Detroit too, and in hindsight, it’s amazing that teams weren’t blowing up Detroit GM Al Avila’s phone.

Limited Jersey He’s had a phenomenal run with us, and we’re happy he’s here, Hazen said.

the Warriors paid him no mind.

The Cavs could aim for better offense-defense balance by reverting to the Love-Thompson pairing once Isaiah Thomas replaces Derrick Rose — a shooting upgrade at point guard that might allow for a shooting downgrade up front. Thompson’s grimy defense doesn’t have quite as much value against opposing second units, anyway.

But that pairing flamed out in the Finals. Thompson was a disaster; on defense, the Warriors paid him no mind.

Oklahoma City could pivot the other way, and slide Patterson to center if Adams has trouble scampering around against Golden State’s offense. That would blow the lane wide-open for Westbrook’s rampaging drives, and allow the Thunder to use Roberson, the only non-shooter left, as a screen-and-dive guy — an important tactic if the Warriors stash Curry on him. Anthony’s bully-ball post game gives the Thunder access to Cleveland’s old caveman plan: slow the game, hunt mismatches, and go to work.

You can wait for your second shooting guard and do pretty well this late, as the likes of Rodney Hood and JJ Redick should set career highs in scoring opportunity and production.

Evan Turner and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist won’t excite you on draft night, but both blend strong rebounding rates and enough minutes each night to drive high-floor outcomes.

John Collins and Trevor Booker are awesome twilight-round buys for points leagues, as both are poised to possibly lead their respective teams in rebounding chances and raw rebounding volume.

Sticking with Atlanta, Kent Bazemore is much more interesting this year than last now that he costs nearly nothing in drafts and could complement Schroder on a needy Atlanta offense.tigers_053-115x115

Scouting USA Basketball’s best 2020, 2021 draft prospects

After scouting the top 2019 NBA draft prospects on Monday, let’s move on to the younger standouts at the USA Basketball Junior National Team minicamp, which featured players who will undoubtedly emerge as NBA prospects down the road.

Here are the top 15 from the 2019 and 2020 high school classes — making them eligible for the 2020 and 2021 NBA drafts — in terms of their performance and pro potential.

Having passed on point guards in the earlier rounds (unless I’m able to get Irving) Schroder is a guy I have my eye on in this range of the draft because I love the way he took his game to a new level last season after finally getting his chance to start once Jeff Teague left for Indiana. Schroder averaged 17.9 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 6.3 APG, 0.9 SPG and 1.3 3PG in his fourth year in the league, and I expect him to continue to build on those numbers while seeing his playing time increase from the 31.5 MPG of a season ago.

Game Womens Dennis Byrd Jersey Simmons (51.2 ADP) is currently going in Round 5 in most ESPN drafts, but the way he’s looked in the preseason, and as much upside as he has as a point-forward who can rack up assists, I know I probably have to take him at the end of Round 4 if I want him. Of course, drafting Simmons means taking on risk — he missed all of last season to fully recover from foot surgery, and also may have to share playing time with Dario Saric, who was mighty impressive as a rookie. It’s that tantalizing upside that makes all the risk worth it, at least to me.

To me, for all the guys to feel good and to feel acclimated, that’s important, Horford said. The quicker that we’re able to do that as a group, the better. I feel like we do have a lot of changes — not just players, but trainers, strength coach, everything. All the change, everything is new for all of us. I want to make it easier on everyone.
Matt Bosher Authentic Jersey
Horford has always been a quiet leader, but he understands the importance of getting everyone on the same page at the start of this season. And while his teammates might tease him about his phone, they rush to answer when he calls.

Williams threw another interception to Justin Reid with 5:52 remaining.

Consecutive holding penalties in the second overtime doomed Kansas State. A Delton run inside the 10 was called back and another holding call two plays later kept pushing the Wildcats backward. That forced Kansas State to throw before trying the long field goal and Delton’s kick bounced off the goal post.

Texas came in with patchwork offensive line and it held up well. With new starters at both tackles and center, the Longhorns didn’t give up a sack. Ehlinger’s scrambling and called runs helped with that, but it was arguably the unit’s best game of the season. The Longhorns also averaged 4.2 yards rushing.

I’ve been saying all week: I’m really proud of this city and how everybody has reacted to this thing, from the first responders to the people that were there just helping other people.

A series of tributes were made at Sam Boyd Stadium earlier in the day for the UNLV-San Diego State game.

Elite Mens Graham Glasgow Jersey You look at their personnel and it’s like an NFL defense, Stanford coach David Shaw said. Big guys all over the place. They can all hit. They can all tackle.

We knew with enough opportunities Bryce Love was going to break one or two of them out and he did that.

Utah (4-1, 1-1) stormed down the field on the ensuing possession with Troy Williams hitting Darren Carrington for big gains, but an interception essentially ended the game.

The Utes had moved to the Stanford 30 and Williams was about to be sacked when he threw the ball up downfield. Quenton Meeks picked off the fluttering pass and allowed Stanford to work more time off the clock.
Authentic Womens Martin St. Louis Jersey
We’re really big on grinding it out for however long it takes and we just need one opportunity to make something happen, Love said. You’re going to have days where things aren’t going to open up. You’re not going to have 300 yards rushing or 260 or stuff like that. Sometimes, especially against a good team like Utah, you’re going to have to get nitty and gritty and really fight.

Hall of Famer Bob Hayes is the franchise leader with 71.

Ben Roethlisberger Authentic Jersey Crosby’s first PAT clanged off the left upright in the first quarter, and the second was wide left in the second quarter. Crosby missed two point-after kicks in 2014, the year before the NFL made the kick a 33-yarder. He made all 36 kicks the first year of the longer distance, but missed three last season.

Youth Jatavis Brown Jersey It’s not really a surprise that 49ers kicker Robbie Gould has made all 14 of his field goal tries this season, given that Gould has now made 31 straight, dating to 2015. What makes Gould a pleasant fantasy surprise is the same thing that makes the other 49ers something of a disappointment: there are few who would expect a Kyle Shanahan coached offense to struggle to score in other ways. Alas, Gould has been the team’s most consistent producer of points and a solid add in any fantasy league.

No one expected rookie seventh-round pick Chris Carson to grab hold of the Seahawks’ running back job, but he beat out free-agent addition Eddie Lacy and incumbent Thomas Rawls to start the first four games. With Carson now on IR and recovering from ankle surgery, it’s not clear who will be the Seahawks’ primary back. Rawls and Lacy split work Sunday against the Rams, and that situation could remain fluid.

The event featured many of Manning’s former Colts teammates. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, former Colts general manager Bill Polian, former coach Tony Dungy, and even longtime late-night television host and Indiana native David Letterman highlighted the eight guest speakers who told stories and jokes and talked about what Manning meant to the Colts. The ceremony lasted about an hour.

It was Zuerlein’s three field goals that led the Rams to a 9-3 win over Seattle last year.

It’s your job to stand in the pocket or get out of it and make a play, Flacco said. That’s what the league comes down to is the ability to do that when times are tough. Anybody can sit back there and do it when it’s easy, but there’s going to be a handful of situations every game where they’re getting paid too. And when you really make your money and you make your points and prove you’re a good offense is when you’re doing it against tough situations.

Flacco’s laid-back demeanor can help him in these tough times, coach John Harbaugh said.

He’s not going to get carried away with what the noise is, Harbaugh said. It’s not going to affect him too much. He’s going to want to get the job done. I trust him. I believe in him. We need to roll.

Under Flacco, who led the franchise to a Super Bowl win in the 2012 season, the Ravens have scored just one touchdown in the past 28 drives. Baltimore has been shut out in the first half the past two weeks.

Spinning the scoreboard hasn’t been the problem this season and how stout Seattle’s defense can be will likely determine this NFC West showdown. But the Seahawks figure to be challenged, especially with defensive end Cliff Avril out.

Rams running back Todd Gurley has 42 points, which is second in the NFL. The leader is Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein with 56.

Just last week, Zuerlein had a franchise-record seven field goals in beating the Cowboys 35-30 in Dallas.

I’d like to have a couple more PATs, McVay said.

While the offense has become the darling of the NFL, the defense has shown plenty of warts. Its ranked 28th in surrendering 26.2 points per game.

Two key members of the Colts secondary did not practice Wednesday.

Starting safety Matthias Farley and rookie cornerback Nate Hairston, who has locked himself into the nickel spot, were both out with quad injuries. Both players finished last weekend’s game against the Seahawks. Veteran Darius Butler could start at safety if Farley is forced to miss Sunday’s game against the 49ers. Rookie cornerback Quincy Wilson returned to practice, albeit on a limited basis, on Wednesday. — Mike Wells

Bowen: Zach Miller, TE, Bears. With Mitchell Trubisky getting his first NFL start on Monday night, look for the Bears to lean heavily on play-action and movement passes to create open windows and high-percentage throws for the rookie. That means targets for Miller on middle-of-the-field throws and off-the-boot action versus a Vikings defense giving up an average of 13.8 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends (24th in the NFL).
Game Mens Wes Schweitzer Jersey
Clay: Jaron Brown, WR, Cardinals. Who? The former undrafted free agent was targeted 12 times against the 49ers last week and has now reached double digits in the category during two of his past three games. The key stat this weekend in Philadelphia is the one that shows Brown having lined up on the perimeter on 81 percent of his routes this season. That means he’ll see Eagles perimeter corners Jalen Mills and Rasul Douglas all afternoon long. They rank first and sixth, respectively, among corners in fantasy points allowed this season.

Game Mens Lance Kendricks Jersey Foxworth: Benjamin Watson, TE, Ravens. Watson is not going to be your top scorer, but he will get plenty of targets. When things aren’t going well for Joe Flacco, he leans on his tight ends. And things haven’t been going well for Joe Cool so far this season. Late in last week’s loss to the Steelers, Flacco found some success connecting with Watson. I expect the quarterback to pick up where he left off with Watson to get things going early against Oakland.

Oklahoma man charged with manslaughter in Dennis Byrd death

An Oklahoma man has been charged with manslaughter almost a year after a collision killed former NFL player Dennis Byrd.

Rogers County court records indicate the charge was filed Wednesday against 18-year-old Zachary Reed of Claremore. The records show a warrant was issued for Reed’s arrest but don’t indicate whether he is represented by an attorney.

Byrd was 50 when he died Oct. 15 after a two-vehicle crash north of Claremore, a Tulsa suburb. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said at the time that a northbound vehicle driven by Reed veered into the oncoming lane and struck a vehicle driven by Byrd.

Byrd played for the University of Tulsa and later was a defensive lineman for the New York Jets. A neck injury ended his career in 1992.

What has gone right: Russell Wilson continues to cover for the flaws that come with a patchwork offensive line and an inconsistent running game. Chris Carson was a nice surprise at running back, but the 2017 seventh-round pick suffered what is Matt Barkley Jersey believed a serious ankle injury in last Sunday night’s rout of Indianapolis.

What has gone wrong: The Seahawks are struggling Joel Ward Jersey to stop rushing attacks, with their first four opponents averaging 134 yards on the ground. As referenced above, Wilson is under heavy pressure far too frequently.

What’s next: The Seahawks usually start the season slow — they have a 2-10 road record in September since Pete Carroll became head coach in 2010. Seattle needs to get out of that malaise quickly heading into Sunday’s game against the surprising Rams.
